Finally ! If we are to believe the recent press release from the Coca-Cola group, the start of the ecological transition has been launched. Starting this February, but only in the United States, the American giant should offer fully recycled soda bottles. Since 2018, the Coca-Cola group as well as Pepsico and Nestlé would be among the largest polluters in the world in terms of plastic according to the Greenpeace organization and a report from the #breakfreefromplastic association
Therefore, the change is now, but it will not be made in all bottles and in all countries… Too bad, even if we can understand that this may take time! Unfortunately, the Planet has no more time!
Therefore, The Coca-Cola Company announces that, from now on, the bottles of the famous 400 ml soft drink will be made from recycled plastic. These bottles, marketed for the first time in the United States, should already allow the group’s plastic use to be reduced by 20% compared to 2018.
In some countries, after COP21, Coca-Cola already offers recycled bottles, but this is the first time in the United States. The biggest market in the bunch, obviously! After these first 400 ml bottles, other products of the brand will follow.
The ecological objectives of the group:
2025: 100% recyclable packaging 2030: 50% recycled materials in cans and bottles
Coca Cola, the world’s best-selling soft drink
It is a small step for Coca-Cola, but it is already a big step for nature. We sincerely hope that your goals will be achieved. Coca-Cola, invented in 1886 by a Colombian pharmacist, is the most drunk soft drink in the world with 2 billion drinks consumed every day… Leading in 2015, Mexico with 275 cans per year and per inhabitant… An addiction to Coca Cola ? Yes, let’s not forget that it contains caffeine.
